I am sorry for your current situation. It is really awful that a young teen like yourself has been caught up in the drinking-thing and now have a record for driving under the influence. For one thing, you can't keep beating yourself up. You are young enough to have made this mistake and also now - with the experience you have, old enough not to repeat this mistake. Now, I'll bet you really pay attention to the commercials on tv that discourage drinking and driving. That's what happens to us. We see and don't see until something bad happens. Let this be a lesson to you. Jump into the frey - contact MADD or SADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and/or Students....) These are organizations which help people like you turn their lives around and be a blessing to others. You have no reason to be depressed. Think of the lives you can now influence even more because you have been given another chance. Mistakes my friend, are not meant to beat us up, have us feeling guilty for the rest of our lives - yes, you should be contrite and never want this to happen again - but get yourself to the library - read materials on the subject, read magazine articles on the subject, get yourself educated on this - work with these groups and speak out whenever and wherever you can. This will let people know that you are serious about your turn-around and they will not be disappointed in you - but proud because you learned a lesson and are doing something about it. Please don't be a repeat offender. I am praying for you.

Hi, I don't know how old the other people are who are answering but I am over thirty and suffer from depression. If you are not seeing a Psychologist than see one. It is important to get those issues out before they cause anxiety and depression. Now I see a Psychologist and I see a Psychiatrist. The second is a medical doctor and yes he does prescribe some medicine that I am on a low dose and it has helped me a lot. one of them suggested taking yoga. I have been told to do some creative activity for a half hour to an hour that will get out the feelings. Now I know you don't want to take a "happy pill" But neither did I and I have been taking it for over three years and it's changed my life. I don't plan on staying it on forever but It has helped and for most days it works fine. Now there is one site that talks about An herbal remedy and that might help you. Again I have heard of using physical exercises to relax and help with depression. Good luck I Hope you find the thing(s) that work for you! Good luck!!!

hate to say it...but you probably need to speak with a counselar or therapist or something like that. If your not sure where to start, try speaking with your High School guidance counselar. If your absolutely against that, then you need someone close to you, someone very trustworthy, to confide in that which is making you depressed. Another thought, u make want to look into is that depression can sometimes be genetic. The sooner you look into this the better. The longer you wait the more dependant you become on alcohol. OH YEAH and those that are dissapointed in you, don't walk in your shoes. Get help with the depression and the rest will eventually wash away.--- signed: A FORMER DEPRESSIVE.

Don't drink anymore. It's a depressant. get out and go to the movies. Your family will get over it eventually even though things feel so awkward when you're around them. They might not tell you the worst they've ever done around your age, but they should, because they have been down that road. Don't drive when you drink, call someone next time, even if they'll be pissed at you, at least you didn't drive. Thank God you're only sixteen and not 21. Punishments are worse. This too shall pass. Let time do it's thing and learn from the situation. It's time to start growing up. And that sucks.

People make mistakes. You learn from them. Your depression is most likely due to the situation rather than mental illness, so with time and counseling (which I would recommend) you will overcome it. Your goal should be to become a better, more thoughtful person so you never make that mistake again.
If you're seriously considering suicide, please get help immediately. DUI is not the end of the world.

Find something to do that you enjoy to do. Take a walk around and just take in your surroundings. Sure, we all makes mistakes, but use them to learn from them. Crap happens, I'm sure you've heard that. Don't get depressed. Being 16 is diffacult (I know..I am too!!) and bigger stuff will, unfortunately, come your way. Deal positively, and you'll come out of this happier than you may think.

Take it easy. You'll pay for it $$$wise. Time heals all. You're very young, and as long as you don't make any more huge bad judgement calls, all will be forgiven. Learn from your mistake, but concentrate on the future. Use this time away from your friends to concentrate on studies, and don't wait for school to start back up, start learning something now.
