I have been using Bare Essentials for almost a year now and will never go back to using any other makeup. I have a really hard skin color to match, but with B.E. my makeup looks natural and flawless. I also suffered from really bad acne in the past and my skin has more than improved since I've started using it.
If you would like to try it, my suggestion would be to go to an Ulta near you and buy a Bare Essentials Starter Kit. It includes a How-to DVD, Flawless Skin Application Brush, 0.06 oz of Warmth All Over Face Color (gives you a warm glow), 0.06 oz of Mineral Veil (air-brush look), and two 0.06 oz SPF 15 foundations in two colors. Kits come in tan, dark, medium, or light. They cost $45.00. The kit should last you 3-6 months so it's a good investment if you are interested in trying Bare Essentials.

I've been using Bare Minerals for over 3 years. I initially purchased it through the infomercial. I had 2 auto deliveries sent but decided to cancel due to the fact that the color I needed was not part of the kit. You did have the option to join the club and you could determine how often the shipments arrived.
I love the foundation and other products and haven't used anything else. You control the coverage, if you need more you put more on, but a little does go a long way.
I don't know if it's available at department stores, but you can get it at Sephora as well as a Bare Escentuals boutique.
The starter kit has a DVD which explains how to use the products and how to put them on. The biggest adjustment for me was not seeing it on my face.
The colors match very well. I have fair skin that's oily. I use the Fair shade. I can use the Fairly Light but sometimes it has a little too much of the golden undertone for my skin.
It's nice that it has SPF15, plus it doesn't clog your pores.
One other nice thig was that I had no issues exchanging colors or returning items. All I did was call the customer service and explain the situation and they told me what I needed to do to make sure the return and exchange went smoothly. One of the items was over the 60 day return time frame.
For me I've had very good luck with Bare Minerals foundation as well as the other products made by Bare Escentuals. The versatility of the products is wonderful.
I wouldn't use anything else on my skin.
Stop by a Bare Escentuals boutique or a Sephora store and check it out.

I started using it this winter, and I will never use anything else ever again. I have oily, breakout-prone skin, and I never realized how much my makeup was contributing to my breakouts until I started using it. My skin really cleared up, and you know how they say it's pure enough to sleep in? It really IS! The coverage is perfect: enough to even out skin and cover blemishes, not too much, so it still looks natural. It lasts for loooong time, too, so you look good all day.
The makeup commercials also don't lie when they say it's only minerals, if you look at the ingredients there are only three or four of them, and they are all minerals. Other mineral makeups that you can get in drug stores have all KINDS of non-mineral ingredients.
You can buy a starter kit online or off the TV, and they give the option of the joining the monthly club, but they don't make you. I highly recommend getting the kit, they send you too small containers of the powder in two different shades (plus the mineral veil), so if you choose medium(or any other general shade), you get one that's slightly darker and one that's slightly lighter, and you can pick the one that suits you best. They say it's a two month supply, but it took me almost five months to get through mine, and I used it every day. Plus, you get very nice brushes and an instruction booklet/DVD.
The only physical store I know of that sells it is Sephora. I've never seen it at a department store, but it might be at some!
The only drawbacks are that it is loose powder, and thus hard to carry around, and it is expensive. I just bought a full-size container for $26.50 (including tax). I never thought I'd spend that much on makeup, but I just love it! To me it is absolutely worth it.

I use Bare Minerals and I love it. One draw back is, yes, they sign you up for automatic shipments every two months but you can change that for every 6 months and still keep a 20% discount on your order. There are some stores in some states that carry this make-up. I live in TN. and the only place that I've seen it for sale here is in the hospital gift shops. LOL That should tell you something. I would recommend at least trying it and then if it doesn't work for you cancel your subscription. Not a problem.

There is a Bare Escentuals store at the Westside Pavillion in Los Angeles, and I think there are other locations spread out. There you can buy without having to committ to monthly deliveries or anything. It's just like any make-up store. I love BE but I did have to learn to apply it. It's not like any of the make-up at the drugstore I was used to applying.

Yes its awesome! You can get it at Ulta stores. It works really well. It covers freckles really well. My advice, go to Ulta have a make-up lady put it on for you and then make your decision. The only bad thing is thats its like $25 per powder bottle, and it runs out fairly fast.

Yes, its pretty awesome. Except, it makes your face appear tan, which may be a plus for you. You can order it through Sephora(stores or online), Bare Escentuals stores, or QVC(t.v. or online).
QVC being the cheapest.
You can cancel the 'subscription' after you receive your first shipment from QVC, if you'd like.

It's the only makeup that my old roommate used to use. She loved it and it did make her skin and face look awesome. She let me borrow it for dates and I loved it. She got it delivered to her house in the mail and it was pretty pricey - but it seemed to be worth the cost and waiting for it to arrive.
