By wearing green visors those that looked over their shoulder
were unable to distinguish the value of the currency they were
counting because the federal bureau of engraving used an
ink that when looked at through a green filter was just about
invisible.
This technique was first used in the Netherlands in the early
17th century to prevent "hjammveitin hochben" which is a Dutch phrase that roughly translates as witnessing the count.
It was later outlawed shortly after Johannes Lambertus Huber
came to power.
