I too agree with that south city loctaion. I always wanted live there growing up, or by the Botanical Garden. I rememebr walking through the neighborhoods as a kid thinking they were such cool houses.

South city, especially near the Hill or between Kingshighway and Hampton near Gravois is pretty good. I'm not sure what prices run in that area right now though.

http://www.zillow.com/ is a good place to look to get an idea of home values for an area.

couldn't agree more: South City. Look on Walsh street in the 63109 area (around 5500 block)...some really nice houses; newly refinished and definitely walkable neighborhood.

Central West End, Delmar Loop, Clayton or Soulard

The Soulard area is a great area to live. You get the historic and the latest. Prices are around what you want to pay.

Definatly the 63109 zip. Also you might want to try mapelwood, an inner ring burb. But you'll get more bang for your buck in the city limits.
