Lotsa women get raped or forced by aids infected hubbies to have everyday sex. Guys sleep around a lot in africa, I've read.
Children are your insurance policy there too, where the gov won't help you when you're old. And they're cheap labour on the farm.
Plus I suppose if you're hopeless you let bad **** happen a lot more than if you have positive expectations.

Many of these people are raped and abused, don't know about prevention or in that case don't know even what AIDS are and therefore can not tell if they have symptoms or what not and can easily get pregnant without the knowledge that they are putting theirs and somebody elses life at risk. Some are born with the disease. They are all still stuck in the past so much that many believe that the medications for them are horrible. Its a matter of both not wanting the help and not knowing about the help they could have, in my opinion. They are not stupid people, they are ignorant.

as there is not a lot of free education in Africa and other poor nationsthere is also a great amount of poverty and AIDS and other Sicknesses. and because a lack of schools also means a lack of knowledge about anything that just adds to the problem. if you brought education there, and actually taught them about AIDS pervention and the benifits of birth control, then, not only will those rates go down, but Africa will become a better place to live.

They simply don't think like us. Consider this. The US sends tons of AIDS medications to Africa. Yet, the people there who are infected can't be bothered to take them. They know that they will die horribly if they don't but they simply shrug it off. It's just too much work to keep track of so many pills a day.

They are INSANE by our standards. Which is, of course, the root of the problem.

Anyone who knows anything about sociology or psychology will tell you the first thing that happens in any society or group that is in mortal peril is the birth rate goes up. Why? I guess its a survival mechanism to keep the species or group alive. Animals as well as humans exhibit this behavior and its "not a thought out behavior" but one that happens on a physical level.

So, its an automatic response to mortal danger. They aren't planning it, its just going on.

Birth control and AIDS education are not readily available. Funding for this education comes with many strings. That's why the Bill Gates Foundation is such a blessing.

it's simple. Lack of information regarding birth control. The first year of Bush's term he cut funding for women's health issues in Africa drastically. This program provided information on natural birth control, birth control pills and women's health in general. I'm sure many women would not be having children they can't afford or support if they had the information on how to avoid it.

TRUE - I have been wondering the same damn thing. And then they have commercials on TV to send them $$ to buy the children food. Yes, I feel bad for the children also as it sucks to see them suffer but damn their parents have to be the stupidist of all for bringing them into a world where they cannot support them. The parents should be punished for brought to trial for involuntary manslaughter as they bring the kid into this world just to see them starve and die. What kind of person do you have to be to let this happen? Do they enjoy seeing their own children suffer and die?

In the most poverty stricken "cultures", for the most depressed, starving individuals, the least of the population to enjoy much else, sex is one thing that remains a constant. The byproduct of which,,,in those aforementioned conditions, is usually pregnancy, wanted or not.

Pregnancy is also largely disregarded in those situations, when momentary gratification, as powerful as sex, is often a way to virtually deny anything else negative in those environments.

Plainly put, some people just don't think ahead, and don't even research things before they do them. These people have no idea what contraceptives are, they don't WANT to know what they are, some men who do know what they are refuse to have sex using them, and then they give AIDS to their wives. Then there's the whole rape thing that seems to be very popular there...

They just don't plan ahead. Period.
