There are Many FAKE god's...
But only One GOD:
1 Timothy 2:5-6 "For there is one GOD, and one mediator also between GOD and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testamony borne at the proper time."

The reason for the multitude of gods is simple: no person is the same as another person so everybody has different needs. So for all those different needs there is created a god to watch over and control this need. Before the was the notion of the christian god there were the pagan gods and each one different a certain thing, this also goes for the Roman and Greek gods as well. But when Christianity came around they just put all those one things in "the one true god" to satisfy all the people and attract as many people to the faith as possible

Well, this question can be responded to in different ways. For one thing - 'gods' are idols we create - anything that we give power to, which controls our lives can be considered "a god'. There are people who will hurt you over their vehicles. I knew a man who faithfully washed his car everyday, polished it, cleaned it inside and out. Would consume several parking spaces in order to keep other vehicles away from his - you know, extreme things like that. That, was his'god'. Then there are people who don't care for the way a particular 'denomination' carries out their religious ceremonies - and they will create another form of 'denomination' to satisfy their own purposes. Over the last 15-20 years there has been an influx of what is called "the Word movement - whereby Baptist churches and others have changed their names to include "Word" or "Faith". I don't think so much there are 'different kinds of gods' in the world as their are the belief systems that people formulate in order to carry out their services. If you look at history, the Buddhist, Muslims, etc. have always been around and they have always had a 'god' who was the supreme representation of their creator. When you really get down to it - man is in constant need of the idea of believing in someone bigger than himself.

Because people keep inventing religion to fit there need. Just look at ancient Egypt , If a pharaoh thought the god was not working for his people then he would change gods.

There is only one God in the world, but because we all have free will and there is are unlimited ways by which we can characterize Him, we each have to choose how we have seen him act on us and in the world.

If you hear about what each one is about you will realize that is all off of ONE God and they have just adapted him to their way of being now, In today's society... But going back to what they took him from you will it to still be the ONE GOD from who we are All Made From..
