I think the most important thing to keep in mind is YOU...
Think of all your interests & ask yourself if any of those could be expanded into a business. Just keep in mind...what's your expertise? What are your interests? What could you imagine yourself doing?
By researching the prospect of starting your own business -- what it entails, what you need to know, helpful hints, etc -- you'll feel better prepared to take that plunge.
I found some book titles that are relevant to your specific question:
* 101 Internet Businesses You Can Start from Home by Susan Sweeney
* The Best Home Businesses for the 21st Century by Paul Edwards
* Selling Online: How to Become a Successful E-Commerce Merchant by Jim Carroll

* The Shoestring Entrepreneur's Guide to Internet Start-Ups by Robert Spiegel
* Making a Living Without a Job : Winning Ways For Creating Work That You Love by Barbara Winter
I also posted some article links in the source box.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

First of all, you don't just start a business. You have to have an idea of what you want to do and some knowledge of the job. If you know nothing about electricity I don't think you want to be an electrician.
Research about the business. If you get a chance, work in a similar place. Understand the problems you will be facing day-to-day. Talk with people, join a group that relates to the business.
Be prepared to put in lots of hours. Heck, it may be 24 hours and the profit margin is not what people make it out to be. Don't go after business just to make money. If that is your motive, it would be best for you to work for someone else.

I would recommend you the most profitable online business which is fully automated. This homebased business is very much different from other business which requires lot of time, energy and money. This incredible system allows you to earn fortune without selling, advertising, prospecting, closing or answering questions. It works 24/ 7 and you can earn profit for each automatic sale, sitting in your home, enjoying life with family and friends or on vacation. . This system allows you to earn $3000 everyday. This business has been selected to be featured in National television ( Discovery channel and CNN )
Visit the website and then place the CALLBACK request to see how powerful the system is.

I would suggest some type of service. Cleaning, wedding photography, etc. Something where you buy the equipment, but there are little or no maintenance costs. Example: Start a cleaning business. Buy all the equipment, and go to work. The only costs you would have are refillable chemicals that are available in bulk, vacuum bags, etc.
