"steigen" means to climb, so I suppose it's "pig climber". I don't think I want to think about what that means. :-)
Sorry, don't know about Mertesacker. An "Acker" is a field (as in the word "acre"), so it looks like "Merte's field".

If you put it on a translator it says:
Schweinsteiger = Pig path
About Mertesacker... well sacker is a sack. And acker is a field.

Literally the name means THE one who lifts the pig up tthe other name has no meaning, the verb steigen means to climb or to lift

Actually in german it translates more into Pig climber, you can't always go by a translator, because they take each word and then put themtogether. They don't always make sense....
