Yep, they can hurt a little bit, but some of that depends on how far they have to go (mine had so far to go they never finished going, lol!)
Braces will improve your bite and your teeth will be easier to keep clean. If you put it off you can wind up having bigger badder dental work done as a result.
If you can't get a different ortho guy, try telling him how terrific you've heard he is and see if he's not a little less "mean"--ortho guys are like anybody else, if people go in expecting the worst that's usually what they get.

am not going to lie the people that say oit doesn't hurt it does not alot be you'll feel sore but this is only for a time day when you keep going to the ortho you'll get used to it your lucky maybe the most you'll have them on will be for about a year so just think about it this way one year with braces and your have perfect teeth for a life time. and if you don't like your ortho change him even if it's far your only go once evry month. good luck

Braces aren't the greatest thing in the world, but their definitely worth it in the long run. See about getting a different orthodonist, and if invisiline (clear retainers that run in a series to straighten teeth.) is right for you. If you have to go the whole braces route, get the clear kind on top, and metal on the bottom. That way they don't show up as much. I hated having mine, but I'm glad I did it, because my teeth are straight, and I don't have an overbite that would have damaged my teeth. So get them, you'll be glad when it's all said and done!

braces dont hurt. When you first get them, they are a little uncomfortable, just because you are not used to them. When you go in to get them tightened I would reccomend taking a tylonol before you go in, just because when they tighten them, it will be sore for about 2 hours, depending on how big the change is.
But Braces are great! I didn't want them either, and like you said, I didn't have perfect teeth, but they weren't bad. Now though, I am so glad that I got them, and I'm sure you will be too.

First thing to remember about teeth is that there is more to braces than just appearance. Poorly aligned teeth can cause health problems.
And depending on how bad your teeth are aligned and how far they need to be moved, this could hurt. But, this is easy to deal with (tylenol, aspirin or advil) and the pain is usually after they are adjusted.
Don't be shortsighted on this one, get the braces. And be thankful that you have concerned parents. And never listen to what "everyone says" about anyone. Be mature, make your own judgement based on your experience with this doctor. Who knows what "everyone" else did during their treatment. I can understand a doctor being stern when his instructions are not followed.

braces will hurt your teeth after you get them on for about 4-6 days. My advice is that you eat or drink something cold like a popscicle or ice cream. It will numb some of the pain..
In the end, it will all be worth it.
You don't want to have all your teeth puuled out when you are in your 60s do ya?

Having Braces only hurts when you get them on for the first time, and when they have to be tightened. But all in all they aren't as bad as everyone says they are. After a while you don't even know that they are there. But taking a simple pain killer like Tylenol will get rid of any pain yuo experience super fast :)

Braces dont hurt.. i have it right now!! At first you might feel umcomfortable but then you'll get use to it. But then once a month you'll have to get your wires tighten (thats the time when they hurt)... but then it only last for about a couple of days, you'll get used to it by then and sooo on the pattern. What is cool about braces is that you get to change ur colors one a month and that it straightens your teeth sooo you should get it..!!

They do not hurt - ever. They might be uncomfortable, though.
Why do you have to be different. Almost every child gets braces around the age of 12. Your parents only want the best for you.
Respect them and get on with it. Two years, so what.
You'll be glad that you did it. And your parents will love you even more.
Stop procrastinating.

-get them, trust me you'll thank yourself later
-yes they can hurt, but advil can cure that
-yes they can cause sores, but they have wax to prevent it, stuff to numb it, and peroxyl help get rid of the sores fast
-yes food gets stuck in them, but you can just brush them more often or carry around tooth picks (you could buy one thats metal that have a travelers case so that you can keep it with you at all times and not have to throw it out)
-yes they may not look the best, but you can pick out fun colors, and your teeth will look way better after
-i had mine on for almost 3 years, but if your teeth arent that bad then it should be a lot less
-i would not go back in time and not get them. my teeth are straight and beautiful i have no regrets
-yes it may be a pain to clean and floss them but make sure you do it-your teeth will look nicer, plus the more you do it the faster you'll get
-if your parents have the money, get them. seriously. you will be happy you did when you get them off.
-(also the sooner you get them the better-it is less painful when you are younger)
