I flew 2 years ago for the first time and I like you get panic attacks.
I went to my local health shop and explained that I was very nervous and they suggested some drops I cant remember the name of them. I took two the night before the flight and two in the morning before going to the airport. I took 2 in the taxi outside the airport and two before getting on the plane. I was still scared but i could get on the plane and once on there the air hosts were so kind I was fine.
Try the health shop but also talk to your doctor.
You can get hypnotised but i would not advise that myself.
Good luck. By the way I am flying again in the summer an I am not at all worried.

Just remember to keep yourself occupied while you are on the plane and you will forget all about how scared you are which will add to the possibility of a panic attack. If you are scared because of heights or something, get a seat that isn't next to the window, so you won't look out of the window and be more scared. To stay occupied: Read a book, talk to the person next to you (if they seem bored/lonely and they are friendly people, or write a story, ect. Be creative, I'm sure you can find a way to entertain yourself.

I get scared too. What I did was read about book about flying - what the plane does, what you are going to feel, etc. It really helped a lot. I got it from the Library but I am sorry I don't remember the name of it. Also, if you go to your doctor and get some anti-anxiety for the flight. As well, bring a paper bag with you on the plane in case you hyperventilate and breathe into it. Educating yourself is the best remedy - a least it was for me! Good luck!

I used to be absolutely terrified of flying. I found that taking those herbal 'Kalms' and a moderate quantity of alcohol worked. Also, listening to my favourite music on the plane with volume up.

The good news is I now fly regularly and am not usually too bothered at all.

The best of luck. And remember, most people have some fear of flying they just don't admit it.

Go to your GP and if he is sympathetic he will prescribe some diazepam for you to take a short while before you fly. These pills should help to relax you and calm you down enough to get through the flight.

my wife suffers with this, we found the best solution is to keep busy have a couple drinks in the airport look round the shops book a meal on the plane, we take a pack of cards ,travel scrabble anything that takes her mind off flying. I have vertigo and claustrophobia but amazingly flying is not a problem for me, good luck and i believe you can do it !

when you feel things closing in on you try deep breathing exercising. Breathe in thru your nose very, very deep - fill your lungs with air, then exhale thur your mouth do this three to four times. While you are doing the breathing exercises think of something relaxing a peaceful place, calmness, serenity in your own way.
