I just had a book published, called "Boudreaux and His Buddies."
Boudreaux is a whimsical, cartoon alligator from Honey Island Swamp in South Louisiana. He goes on different fun-filled adventures with his buddies. His biggest adventure is a more serious one. It is about Boudreaux's experience of going through Hurricane Katrina. With the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaching in August, this book is sure to touch your heart. It teaches lessons about life, friendship and family through Boudreaux's wide-eyed innocence. it's full of cajun names, cajun places and cajun customs. Written for readers ages 9 or 10 years of age through adult, "Boudreaux and His Buddies" is a 100-page paperback. It is available for purchase now through amazon.com, barnes&noble.com and has distributors in Europe. It is my wish that "Boudreaux and His Buddies" will bring a smile to the faces of everyone that reads it and somehow, it will touch peoples lives.

Sounds like a good book for kids. Maybe a good way to promote your book (once school starts) would be to go into the schools and have readings. It would be a good way to promote your book and be good for the kids. It would be a good addition to school libraries. Luckily, at the school where I work, we had no water damages, but at other schools, everything was lost.

Good luck with your book.

I live near Monroe, LA and have been thinking about coming south just to see the damage from Rita and Katrina first hand. Do you think it is too dangerous to go to New Orleans? 5 people were killed a couple of weeks ago and I heard that 5 more were killed yesterday or the day before.

I already know about SW Louisiana as I live here and went through Katrina and Rita myself.

Thanks for the information. And I am glad to see that others are using this terrible experience to make positive contributions to our regional image.

I live in Louisiana and think it is nice that some of the "Bubba" stereotypes are being broken. I am glad that people are seeing the culture that we have and not merely thinking that we live in the swamps and wrestle alligators. We might eat alligator but we usually get it from a restaurant, not our backyards!
