Ok open up all the windows and doors while you do this on a good hot day (the sun will help bake out the smell). You also want to rent a carpet cleaner (or mop the floors if it's got wood floors). You want to get ahold of a cleaning solution called "Murphy's Oil Soap" it's made by Palmolive, and it's a nice natural soap that you can use to clean your walls (it smells really good too and is really powerful). All your house needs is a good scrub down. You might have to repeat this several times before the smell totally comes out. You also want to start investing in lots of air freshener (the same one so you have a uniform smell through out the house) until the smell comes out. It will take a while but you'll be able to get that smoke smell out of your house eventually.

You would need to get some 409 cleaner and some cloth hand towels and one by one go threw the house and scrub each wall, shampoo the carpet and mop the floors. I have been threw it before and when you spray your walls with 409, you will see the brownish color roll down your walls. Be sure to wear gloves and a mask over your face. And be sure to raise up your windows to air.

You will have to wash the walls and seal them with a primer before you can paint them, and this includes all the ceilings, otherwise the stains will bleed through your paint. If you have ceiling fans or blinds, they will all need to be cleaned with a degreaser such as 409 or Simple Green. Wash windows and mirrors with vinegar/water. You want to clean the carpets, but the smell will never go completely away unless they are replaced as well as the padding underneath. Wear a mask while you are working if the smell gets to you.

Ick! I used to see that a lot.
Get a hot bucket of lysol and scrub down *everything*. When that dries, wash all the glass with vinegar. And then repaint the house. Consider using baking soda on the countertops: That's a great substitute for Comet without some of the risks, and should help with the odor.
And if you're renting, tell the landlord about it.

Clean the carpets and any fabrics in the house, by now that will include your furniture.
Wash down the walls with BORAXO or similar, then repaint. Finish each room before moving to the next, if you don't the smell will just re-absorb.

Paint the walls if you can because the walls and ceilings will hold the stench of the smoke. You can also rent a carpet shampooer and scrub every carpet in the place. Check at your local hardware store for something to purify the air.

Clean your walls with Dow Scrubbing Bubbles. You can spray it on and watch the yellowish stains just start dripping down the walls. For that reason do small sections. You would be surprised to see how easy it comes off. Make sure you keep your rag and bucket of water clean, don't want to just spread it around. I use scrubbing bubbles for just about everything.
