I thought it was a great novel, not "fake" or "boring", but one man's meat is another's poison. Here's a hint: It's main "message" is that humankind in inherently bad/evil. And maybe William Golding is right.

It is a classic book teachers have recommend for ages along with Catcher in The Rye,Moby Dick . I read it when I was very young, I did not find it boring but disturbing. Not reading for young kids that's for sure.. Fake I never found it to be that what is in that book is an scenario that could have happened somewhere. Boring in no way at all a point of how you view the words written and wether it is required reading or choice. Try again the story is worthy, take care READ

I had the same trouble when I had to read it for a book report last year. Turns out I ended up reading it on the day before my speech was due. I have to agree with you, it was pretty boring. But towards the middle it gets better. Just keep motivating yourself to keep reading it. It's not that long. The plot has an extremely big amount of symbolism in it, so try to work your mind while reading it. It'll keep you from falling asleep. If all fails, go on SparkNotes.com and read about it. Then it'll be easier to read the book. Good luck!

It is a really difficult one. Try Animal Farm, it's much worse in my estimation. I'm a little older than you, so I have now really come to appreciate the complexities of the story. Or--find a website which basically analyzes the story for you. Here is one I found on the web: http://www.daltonstate.edu/honors/students/agreene/allegorical_analysis_of_lord_of.htm
Do this first and then try reading the story. I have found if I know a little bit about something I gain much more understanding from reading it and putting it in my own perspective.

that is a non secular "beginning," which ability transforming into a clean human being. that is our cultural language recreation for signifying that this human being has replaced, and the ritual that is going with it (water baptism) symbolizes a 2d beginning. that is a public confirmation that this human being has been made clean. And snice we proceed to be sinners even after this takes position, we are being born lower back each and every of the time, as we admit our blunders and attempt to astounding them and do extra acceptable. we are continuously transforming into new. the excellent element about this metaphor is that no count number number how a techniques you've lengthy previous down the different direction, no count number number how evil you've been, there is continually wish in being made new.

I agree that it tends to drag on in certain sections, but overall a very worthwhile read. I found Golding's examination of human nature fascinating: are we inherently evil and need to be constrained by rules and society? He takes quite a bleak view on his topic and emphasizes his point by playing with society's stereotypical view of the innocence of children. I believe he also wrote this as a reaction to his wartime experiences.

Imagine yourself stranded on an island with some teenage freaks around. It's a question of live or die. It's not fake. It's survival after disaster, and this could happen to any of us.
