Okay, I've heard theories of how black holes are dimensional gateways, or just rips in the space-time continuum that is kinda like a cut, it will heal in time and when it does, all the matter and energy it absorbed will be put out at one time. Sounds plausible, but still out there. I know they are formed by a star's gravity well collapsing in on itself, along with a few other factors, but for want of space in this website, i have to cut them out. If anyone has theories of their own, I'd like to hear them, and if you have facts, bring those too. We really need to quit worrying about shuttles and start getting ships that carry people on exploration. Ships that go out to saturn, not to colonize, but to scan and search, ships that don't return to earth's surface, but get supplies from the space station after we ship them up. I know it costs a lot of money, but it would help answer questions like this one. Not to mention a boost in technology created by need of better systems devices.

A black hole is simply a concentration of matter that is so large that it's gravity is strong enough to prevent even light from getting out. The rest of the stuff you mention is speculation.

There are excellent explanations of what a black hole IS all over the Internet. It's function can only remain a theory since we'll never see the other side where the matter goes.

Black holes are just a small point with a massive amount of gravity . The event horizon is just all the mass being pulled into it . Imagine a quarter that weighs 2 tons . That is what drives a black hole , the massive amounts of gravity that pulls at matter nearby

I don't know how interested you are in finding whether the "theory" is correct or not, but you may go to http://timebones.blogspot.com and read a three page thesis concerning their impossibility. It is entitled "The Problem and Repair of Relativity."

There is a major problem with mass acceleration when one approaches within 400 miles of the very center of our sun. Were a mass to exist within, or below this location, the mass would be accelerating past the speed of light in one second. In our planet the distance is 0.716 miles from the center.

You are aware of the many theories concerning black holes. "What it really is and functions of it"
The answer I got was "God only knows".
