You're sort of right. Morality is more of an opinion. It doesn't come from god as some people think. The goal is to find a morality or code of ethics that enables us all to live together peacefully. Ethics is actually a very interesting topic in philosophy. You may want to look into some books on it. The terrorists you mention do what they do because of what they believe. It's our differing beliefs that cause so much war. If you'd like a great book about that I highly recommend "The End of Faith: Religion, Terror, and the Future of Reason" by Sam Harris. In that book he shows very clearly that it is our beliefs that are hurting us and putting up walls between us.

Morality is taken in the context of an individual culture. However, there are some concepts that are more or less universal: murder, robbery, etc. The Islamo-fascist terrorists we face today are relying on an interpretation of a few lines in the Koran to justify their position. Consider: what is their target? If it is military or paramilitary (police or the like), they MAY have a claim to a moral standard as "freedom fighters." If it is innocent civilians, particularly children, they are terrorists. Even the so-called jihad they claim to be fighting has rules: the innocent are not to be deliberately harmed.

"Terrorists believe that killing for and dying for their religon is right, while some think its a terrible thing to do."

Excuse me, but you're wrong. Terror and religion have never, do not, and will never go hand in hand. What you see is terrorists justifying their horrible acts thru purposely made misinterpretations. In turn, they brainwash young kids, teens, and the weak with the same hogwash so that they think that they are dying for their religion. They are going to hell.

Take Bin Laden, for example: his organization sells drugs in Africa and the Middle East to fund his sick version of Islam(hich has nothing to do with Islam or its teachings), so he can spread his fear, terror, and ignorant ideologies. Everyone knows that drugs and alcohol are illegal under Islamic law...how come he sells to Muslims? Does that make sense?

If what you said is true...the Crusaders were terrorists, right?

Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him instructed his people before going to war "Do not cut any trees, do not burn any homes, do not kill any children, do not kill any women, do not kill any priests, do not burn ANY religious buildings do not kill any old people, and do not kill anyone whom does not fight you when you are in battle."

Well, who's left to kill? Only the armies, huh? Islam was known as the only reigion that also acknowledged the authenticity of both Judaism and Christianity...and it was the religion whose official greeting was "Al salamu 'alaikum warahmat Allahi wa barakatuhu"
(PEACE be upon you, and may the mercy of God and His blessings fall upon you.)
but unfortunately, a hypocrite and his cronies started a 'mafia' that ruined ths great religion's reputation, which is especially easy when there are many ignorant, naive people.

I think morality is more perspective than anything else. And perspective is reality...to some. Opinions completely differ and are based off of a thought while perception are more along the lines of feelings. Example of opinion "I didn't like the movie. It was bad." While moral perception would be like "I did not like the movie because of the senseless killing." Morally much of the United States and other nations find blowing oneself up to blow up other things is morally wrong...perceive it as bad. Other places they are martyrs(sp..). I hope this came across the right way...lol.

Morality is constant. The laws of morality are clearly stated in the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is the problem with being non believers. You are as a great ship on a stormy sea without a rudder to steer with, you are tossed to a fro unable to discern right from wrong. So to you it is only a matter of opinion, to disciples of Christ it is clear.

Morality is a VERY complicated subject. And no it is not an opinion. let's say you kill someone in self-defense. You may not go to jail but in the end it's still wrong. it is never right under any circumstances to kill someone. I'm not saying if someone was trying to kill me or someone i cared about i wouldn't do anything in my power to stop them but, taking a life no matter how or why you do it is wrong.

To think that one may kill themself in the name of their God is in fact pretending to be a God..If they believe as most do that they came from a God, then to destroy his creation is saying I am God, don't you think? Terrorists are normally people whose lives have been changed or affected by the acts or deaths of others and live in dispair. They are the walking gun, using their religion as their bullet..If they trully believe their God says it is ok to kill themselves and others and these people pray to him everyday, then why doesn't he answer them and not use a old written book for them to interpet? Maybe their hatred and imagination tells them to..Where is the morality in 8 year old girls wearing back packs full of explosives that grown men strapped on their backs, pointed a finger and said, walk that way,die and you do God's bidding. How does a child have enough maturity to make such a choice?

And perspective.

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

People from NAMBLA think there is nothing wrong with a 40-year old man having a sexual encounter with an 8-year old boy.

Criminals have no problems with robbing and killing to achieve an end.

Huh! What about the big 10...you know "Thou Shalt" G-d didn't make a footnote saying ..."this was an opinion". Life is too sacred to squander. Ask any parent who has lost a child or those victimized by senseless violence.
