You say, in this World Cup? No, it isn't. The first player to score in his own goal in this World Cup was Carlos Gamarra (Paraguay) It allowed England to defeat Paraguay 1-0 in their first game of this World Cup.
An interesting thing is that until now (before the Final), Italy suffered just one goal in this World Cup. And it was an own goal!!! The Italian player Zaccardo was unlucky and made a goal in the wrong side, allowing USA to escape with a 1-1 tie against Italians.
Well, people, go on and write about other own goals!

It happens a lot, unfortunately. And it is very embarassing.
The only goal scored against Italy in this World Cup was an own goal (against the United States).

no no no. it has happened. it happened in the usa vs italy game. christian zaccardo made an own goal for the usa. dats how the final score was 1-1.

a guy in columbia died because he gave the US a goal..
actually Italy's ONLY GA (Goal against)in this tournament is from the Italy-USA game that Zaccardo scored on his own team

no its not many have made a goal on themselves.. i remember in the beginning paraguay made a goal on themselves and england won 1-0... i still have faith on portugal && hope they win this game
