Selfish and greedy!? That is not true man. Some of us many seem like that because Singapore's a really busy place. The unfortunate trend of kiasuism (a hokkien variant for extreme fear of losing) may also have allowed us to be perceived that way. I've tried my hand at charity events and there are people that just pass you by, not batting an eyelid even.

But i guess that every place has some people like these, not only in Singapore. Singaporeans in general must not be judged by these few. We are generally a friendly bunch of people and i definitely don't think that greed is one of our 'qualities'.

Generally as a whole, Singaporeans are pretty generous when it comes to charity. Every year, at least 10 millions are garnered through 2 tv appeal programs, not counting other charity works. And from 5 million people, I guess this is not too bad. Though there will be some otherwise for sure. This will the ones talking about this. :)

I wouldn't say that, but as a Singaporean myself, I would say that we are rather apathetic. We seem to think that giving large amounts of money equates to our generosity.
