A Falling Star is a meteor. Usually a very small particle of space dust, or sandy material. Most of them burn up when entering the atmosphere and appear as a "shooting star," or "Falling Star." Most of these never reach the earths surface, but in the rare cases where one is large enough to withstand the burn up effect of passing thru the earths atmosphere and actually land on earth they are called a metiorite.
