As an experienced writer and published fantasy author, I would suggest you save your money on books that list publishers. For the most part, those listings are either out of date, vague, or totally useless because most major publishers these days won't even READ unsolicited manuscripts unless you have previously published something OR you have a reputable agent. The slush piles are in the thousands, so don't waste your time, postage or printing costs.

What you need, once you have a finished manuscript, is an agent. Pure and simple, no buts about it--get an agent. Otherwise you are paddling upstream against a current that will eventually dishearten or break you. Agents know the game and they know what the publishing houses are looking for.

That's my advice. Good luck with your book.

Dorrance Publishing is a subsidy writer. they could post a yellow pages in the journey that they could get you to pay for it. It would not make you a author once you pay for e-e book. walk away. Get POET'S marketplace and author'S marketplace and discover out who's accepting that pays. assistance on the thanks to post. once you've between 20 and 30 poems revealed in call magazines, THEN frame of mind a writer about an anthology. when you're writing short thoughts, get 5 - 6 revealed in call magazines beforehand you frame of mind a writer. Novels are a lot harder to promote because there are not any intermediate steps. some writing businesses have respected contests designed to discover new skills. outdoors of those, you in ordinary words ought to post and post and post. The book is called the Literary Market Place, known in the biz as the LMP, which you can get at any library. You can also subscribe to it on line. It's updated annually.
The five-star author above my answer is probably right. Nobody bothers to read unsolicited book proposals. If you do try to get an agent, be very careful and get good references for them. Also, get one who knows how to listen to you and not just a greedy creep out to cash in on YOUR talent!
