Well, it will get red and swollen for a while which is normal, also you will get some fluid that seeps from the piercing that is normal, it is just bile and blood plasma, what u want to look for is overswelling, really bad pain, worse then what you have been experiencing if you have been experiencing it and if it stays red for a long time, just make sure you dont use alcohol or peroxide or anything like that. You want to use a sea salt mixture, but edible sea salt, cause it is not iodized. So non-iodized salt and water, that'll do the trick ; ) good luck.

"4. How can I tell if a piercing is infected, or it’s just normal healing stuff?
All body piercings will have some drainage during the first several days. This is because you have basically given your body a puncture wound, and your body will bleed for a while, and then have drainage of some fluids as it heals. These fluids are actually good for you, as they keep the area moist and clean and will wash away some of the dirt and germs that might otherwise stay in the area.
Bleeding should stop within a few hours or the first day and be only small amounts. Often it will look watery. Drainage will be mostly a clear, watery discharge, although it can sometimes be somewhat white in color. The drainage will form “crusties” around the jewelry that can be washed off with warm, soapy water when you clean your piercing each day.
A piercing is infected when the discharge is either green or yellow. Also, if the area becomes swollen or inflamed again after the initial swelling has subsided. Any time you see green or yellow pus or discharge; you should see a doctor and get appropriate medical treatment. It won’t necessarily mean you have to remove your piercing; you may simply have to take a course of antibiotics. If the area becomes red and inflamed with red streaks radiating out from the area, see a doctor right away. "

your peircer should have gone over this with you before you left, but being that this is your second time around they might not have. Signs of infection include redness, swelling, pain and most likley some pus.
Keep the area clean and dont fiddle with it alot. Wash with a plain unscented soap, use a salt/water solution for rinsing .. it will help promote the healing... use an antibacterial medication on it. some people have suggested bactine which is fine .. myself personally I have used polisporin for all my peircings ( except tounge) and there has been no problems with them. Some seeping of body fluids from it is normal .. its just blood / plasma from the actual "wound" That will be cleared away when you wash it.

redness, chapping, swelling and pain. Buy bactine. It's an antibacterial spray that kills infection without having to touch it and numbs the pain.

Redness or swelling. Keep it clean and keep your hands off of it as much as possible. May need to apply some A&D ointment or Bacitracin ointment, but not too much.

If you don't know then maybe you shouldn't have got one without first asking the piercer of problems.
