Can a processor of 800mhz be used on a motherboard of 533mhz?
More specificly, can intel pentium 4 478socket 533mhz 3.0E ghz be used on asus p4pe motherboard?

I think it would be very hard on the motherboard or the cpu

1. the motherboard has to strain o supply the power to the chip

2. the chip has to slow down for the motherboard and it might lead to destruction of the chip

it may, but it has to have the same number of pins as the 533MHz processor.

yea ive tried it before and it burned up literally. or maybe i had the wrong power supply
