Saddles are one of the few things that have to be made by hand by a skilled craftsmen. If you find them hard to fit, imagine the training and work that goes into making them so that they fit and don't cause galls, and stop complaining about the cost!

Saddles are so expensive because they're made with good leather so they'll last longer. In this day and age..the more expensive the longer the product will last. Plus a saddle is important because it keeps you on the horse lol. They're hard to fit? Like for the horse? Or the rider? horses are all different sizes so that might be why

Good saddles are expensive because of all the components that go into making them to last. Quality leather is expensive, plus most are hand made or at least hand assembled with attention to quality. They are hard to fit because every horse is different and needs a perfect fit in the tree, length of skirt, etc. That's also why it is so frustrating to find the perfect fit.

English saddles are hard to fit as they are smaller and theweight is put on such a smaller area. A western saddle is much easier to fit and they can take more padding so they are much more forgiving than the English models.
They are expensive as it takes many hours of hand labor to create one.
I look at it this way that is what is between me and the horse and I am going to buy thebest one I can afford as I wnat to stay on the horse and not have any problems.
I have a Cirlcle Y and a Tucker in western ones and a Colligate in an English.

You get what you pay for with saddles - for example you can pay a lot of money for something like a Stubben, even a second hand one, or a lot less for a synthetic saddle which maybe you could try. Your horse/pony may be hard to fit due to being very round, or having high withers, no withers or whatever but it's important to get it right!!

because the market is limited, thus the manufacturer can charge more. The fit is difficult becuse everyone's derrier is different, leg span etc. English saddles need to be more concise, dressage even more so, the western saddle you plunk your rump and ride. But you need a proper fit for your safety and the comfort of the horse.

why don't you try one of the new treeless saddles? they are meant to fit any horse & work out cheaper because you don't have to keep changing saddles. One brand I've ridden in is a called a Torsion saddle, also try the enlightened equitation website as they do treeless saddles, also Freedom Treeless

from experience the best riding is to make sure your saddle is custom made for you as well as your horse.you will be comfortable and your horse will be to.a good rider ride by the feeling of is horse and the horse feels what the rider want him to do.when you have that rapport with your horse you and your horse can act as a team(a good saddle is well worth all the trouble and expense)

if you are talking about english saddles, try buying a gullet system, they are kind of expensive, but if you buy a lot of saddles it is worth it. it will be alot more comfortable for your horse and a lot less frusterating for you.
