Real beauty takes time to develop. Some comes from the type of person you are. A sour person rarely has physical beauty.
Some comes from taking the time to figure out what "look" is best for you and what are your best features.
Your basic features are genetically based (unless the plastic surgeon has done some rearranging). Then you get to go from there as an artist with a new canvas.

Hello.I like this question, but you run a risk posting it in an often materialized and trend-driven world!

My wife is the most beautiful woman in the world. So is my daughter. Even if I lost my sight one day (hope not!) I would still know it to be a simple truth for me. There is a magnificance of beauty that extends beyond our limited senses. One we care to ignore in our trendy materialism. Boobies sag in time, and washboard abs turn to fat. What of your beauty then? We must reach beyond those limits, and find within our mates something that will sustain a relationship, when our feeble bodies fail. An exercise gym can make you an Adonis/Venus if you want to work it. What machines do they provide to make a woman like my wife 'shine' from within? Because she does-even after 20 years, and 3 children from her now damaged body. Tell me exactly which spliced gene or machine that can do this, and you have answered your question. My feelings had nothing to do with body, they went far beyond it. As it should always be.

And somewhere in that realm is where 'true beauty' is found.Let's not forget it.

Yes, it is based on symmetry which shows good genes and proper nutrition when growing up. People looking for good breeding partners are looking for people with good genes and that is indicated by symmetry-that is the left side of the face looks very much like the right side. The size of the nose, etc does not matter, it is if it is balanced. They did an experiment with a completely unbiased population-babies and showed them pictures of different people on a screen. They all would stop playing and look at the pictures of people with symmetrical faces-they were attracted to them.
It is for this reason that men are not attracted to anorexic women, they look like poor breeding partners.

Ugly is genetic but beauty can happen by accident to anyone. Some people should look in the mirror and be honest....Don't pass on your genes to anyone under any circumstances. It's not fair to the kid or to the rest of the world. The last thing we need is more ugly people running around. Keep it in your pants, cover it up, whatever it takes but don't pass it around or share it with others. This is one way you can contribute to the future and humankind. Don't do the nasty and make the ugly.

genetics might play some part of beauty, but beauty should be looked at from within a person not just on the outside.

Not really. A lot of beautiful girls who are models have really unattractive relatives like Adrienne Curry and Anna Nicole Smith. I think anyone can be beautiful if they know how to play up their features. I've seen some really shocking transformations of people who where called ugly and later on turned out to be gorgeous.

Standards for beauty change from time to time and from culture to culture. A woman who is beautiful now in the western hemisphere might be considered ugly in the eastern hemisphere or a couple of hundred years ago.

NO. if you look around you will see very beautiful people marry other very beautiful people and have families. they not always have beautiful children. pleasant and well behaved, but not beautiful in "physical" sence. our genetic makeup is more than looks. its intellegence, behavior, disabilities, etc.
you can also look around and see two unhandsome people marry and have a child that turns into a teen model or movie star.. look at some of the parents of the teen stars today. beauty is not always handed down. wisdom and kindness are though.

I definitely think so, true beauty. But I think that people can be NOT UGLY but taking some time on their appearance. I don't think that I have features that are truly beautiful, but I put on nice makeup, do my hair well, and wear fashionable clothing and people have told me I'm attractive.

Not really. I know some people who have very attractive parents who are less than attractive and I know some people who have less than attractive parents who are gorgeous (physically). Real beauty is not physical. It comes from within. If you are kind, empathetic, honorable, respectful, generous and pleasant, your physical attributes, good or bad, take the backburner.
