Falling in love in our teens is part of growing up it happens to all of us. But when we're young we change our minds so many times that most of the times get bored and get over that "love" or crush. Real love lasts for years and years. If it is meant to be real love then give it time it will happen. In the mean time the important things to do when young is prepare for the future I know it sounds cliche but you'll be so glad you did in the future.

My favourite poem concerning the definition of love is from the book Paradeisia:
Love is not lightening, but the beginning of your light forever
as far as dark is from day or bright is from night.
Love is not a summit, but a steady mountain rising from you to
fill my soul beyond space or understanding.
Love is not a moment, but the every day you open my mouth
and let me taste the fruit of your soul's deepest roots.
Love is not a feeling, but a thousand things you make our home of
with the touch of your hands like a nest from a dove.
Love is not paradise, but the struggle of all time not to lose
hope in what is not perfect yet is purest truth:
Love does good, or is not.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The poem is saying that love is not so much a big bubbly feeling as a conscious act of self sacrifice.
That is true love.
When your parents indicate you are too young to know what true love is, what they are saying is that you are not old enough to be prepared to love your boyfriend in a way that is conducive to marriage. Can you love your boyfriend? Yes, most definitely. Are you able to love him as a woman truly loves her husband? Not yet, because I believe that kind of love can only come with time and a great deal of maturity. In other words, you can't have the truest form of love for your husband or wife until you've been married for a great many years.

There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......
(L)isten: and Validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.
