It's time for the annual auto pilgrimmage across the Upper Midwest. I solicit your idea for family-oriented attractions, diversions and neat stuff in North Dakota and western Minnesota, especially the Twin Cities Metro area.

I was born and raised in North Dakota. There's lots to see, especially if history interests you. Medora and the Badlands are spectacular. Just don't go near the buffalo, they are wild animals, and they will not react kindly to you. There is also the world's largest buffalo (statue) in Jamestown, North Dakota. Bismarck has a wonderful zoo and waterparks and pools. Belfield has the Trapper's Kettle restaurant (just off of I94) a must see, the salad bar is a canoe!!! There's also the "Enchanted Highway" with bizarre sculptures all along it. This website is very helpful:

I now LIVE in Minneapolis, so as for Minnesota, heck, any lake is your best bet. There are great resorts all over the state as well as state parks. In the city of Minneapolis/St. Paul, there are tons of things to do. I don't even know where to start! Museums, restaurants, entertainment, shopping, etc. Duluth is also a great place to visit and the North Shore are breathtaking.

I live in South Dakota and have NEVER been to ND because trust me there is nothing there. Twin Cities area is fun...The is Valleyfair, the zoo is okay and I believe it is free...there is a Children's Muesum and of course Mall of America...that has very cool things in it...there is a Nascar simulator, the Rainforest is very cool to eat at with kids also Camp Snoopy and shopping. If it was possible I would try to drive through SD. You could see Mt. Rushmore, Reptile Gardens, Bear Country USA, Flinstone Park, tons of caves, also there is a house that is tilted but everything stays flat. It is very cool. Plus Wall Drug and Badlands. The area is breath taking.

Twin Cities is in eastern MN, but for that area go to the Mall of America there is the underground water tanks, Snoopy Camp and LOTS of shopping. I would recommend getting a state map and check out all the state Highways there are all kinds of neat little towns that have some type of item of amusement.

North and South Dakota and Minnesota are American states. they are in america of a, not in Canada. the ten provinces and three territories of Canada have not some thing to do with the Dakotas or Minnesota.
