The best way if you're not technically savvy or you might have firewall restrictions at work blocking normal RDP, is to us a service like gotomypc.com. For a monthly fee, you install a client on your office PC, then you login to the service from another computer using a userid/password and you can remote control your office PC.
Be sure you do not violate any corporate rules restricting doing this to a company PC, many companies do restrict this because it's can cause a security vulnerability.
If you have Windows XP and you know how to setup RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) and you don't have a firewall blocking you at work , then you could use this without a monthly fee. Another free program to do this is called VNC.

If you are talking your emails, you can do that anywhere. As far as programs or things like that, the computer you use has to have those programs downloaded in it already to retrieve the information. Best Buy has this neat service now where they will automatically back up your computer to their servers so you can pull that up from another computer with that same software. It's pretty reasonable and I think that is what I'm going to do with work.

If you are going to set up a network in your office, you can only access it in your house.
the best way is to set up a wireless connection. buy a wireless router (http://www.bestbuy.com). you can get one for about $60. then you'll need a wireless card, costing about $50, also can be purchased at bestbuy. set up the router, and set up the wireless card, connect to your router, and your good to go!
