With the way the world seems to be today, why is it that mistakes can not be corrected if history does repeat itself. If the old adage is true than as humans we should know the solution to the worlds problems before they happen. But is there enough proof to support that history does repeat itself at all?

sure there is a simple evidence for history repetition. it's the human nature that all over the centuries will remain the same. hence the reactions will also be the same. that's why people are always doing the same mistakes. incidents are the same all the time. the surrounding and persons only change. that's why for example when the children do some thing wrong, parents say we have more experience than you in life and we know how to deal with such situation by doing such and such. that's because they already passed by the same situation before. so it's the same event but with a different persons.that's why shakespear's drama is successful all over the times. as you know Shakespeareans are discussing the human nature which is the same all the time.

I think you exaggerate the capabilites of human kind to "know solutions before problems happen". That's a real stretch. With all the good of human kind there is no limit to greed, corruption, power...and as long as those things abound people are going to try and take advantage of other people.
The rise and fall of empires is rather well documented. The classic Greek and Roman empires which decay from the inside tend to lend credit to the conclusion. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely....if you want to toss about esoteric questions.

I think history repeats itself if we do not learn enough from the mistakes of the past.

You could fill up a library with all the answers to this question. It's pretty much impossible to just say yes or no. Even so, i'm leaning towards a yes.
