In pure economic terms, no human resources are assets to business growth and development. In real terms, I have never heard of an employer refer to an individual worker as a business asset.

A business must consider a worker as a production asset. It costs money to make a worker work. The worker's labor ultimately brings in more money. From the business's perspective, the worker is purely an asset that can be evaluated as profitable or not.

For the person that must decide to fire the unprofitable employees, it may seem immoral to get rid of nice people who are hard workers, but your role is to take care of the business, not the welfare of the employee. You should not hire friends or relatives for just this reason, you don't want to cloud your moral compass.

They are the "Assets for the business" and the real property/wealth acquired by an entrepreneur is his
work force and their good will.
All other things (fixed and current assets) are worthless
when you loose the confidence of the workers.

YES. It is very moral. It is moral because an asset to your finances, is what brings them in. One of those assets, is your employees. An asset is something you need, in laymans terms.

My son is an asset in my family. I need his love and he needs mine. We need each other. We are each others assets.

To lose your employees, is like losing your whole business. Since the life of the business resides in having employees (unless its a self proprietorship) then those employees are needed, or, in other words "assets". The business needs them, therefore the employees are "business assets". See?

Humans always pride themselves to be a higher species because of their ability to think and make decisions. In my opinion, the ability to think is starting to get in the way of our lives. Because people think, and everyone think differently, quarrels and fights are started. Because people think, their school essays get discredited; students are not supposed to think, they are supposed to 'think' like people of the past who had written some books or some form of evidence and include those in the essays. Because people think, those who don't think have to conform to the ideas of the former. Because people think, they cannot come to a decision about some things and it will always be there, never-ending, never gonna be solved. Because people think. Too much in fact. Wouldn't it be good if everyone just do things without thinking too much? Go for it. On impulse. On instinct. Would that make things better? Look what has all the thinking done to us. Yes, we have the technology, the entertainment and everything else which people of the past did not have but we no longer have the simplicity in people. I'm not saying that people in the past did not think but they were smarter. They don't think so much. What's the point of thinking so much and still no conclusion and decision could be made? Doesn't that make you feel worse?

Bottomline: we think too much. Don't k. To whoever this is applicable to.

Workers are of course people but the service they provide in exchange for their salaries is a business asset. It can be referred to as an object. For example, When they say that a football player was bought by a club they don't mean him as a person but his services i.e. he will play for that club.

Asset implies something capable of generating economic value.

The usage or the term was origiated to remind management of the value that people bring to the organization (include people and not just accounting results in their decisions).

worry when they consider you a liability instead of an asset.

I would think an employer who valued his or her employees would consider them his or her greatest assets, making that a compliment, rather than seeing them as property. Keep in mind the context.

Workers *are* business assets. They wouldn't be hired if they weren't. Treating them as anything less than human is foolish.
