We do, regularly, have revolts in the United States, but they don't usually take exactly the same form from generation to generation.

The 1930's saw both peaceful and violent revolts against poverty and capitalism. The populist gangsters like Pretty Boy Floyd and Bonny and Clyde were revolutionaries of a sort, I would say.

The 1960's and 70's saw peaceful and violent revolts against the Draft and the Vietnam War.

The Oklahoma City Bombing in the 1990's was largely a reaction to the involvement of Oklahoma City Federal Officers in the siege a Waco a few years earlier.

Even the 911 attack in New York involved active support from Muslim residents of the United States and Canada, suggesting some level of popular support and opposition to Bush policies.

There are congressional elections this year. If the Democrats do not take control, and do not improve the lot of the average American worker, I think we might see some form of "revolutionary" confrontation between the rich and the poor, but I don't know exactly what form it will take.

How could anyone foment a revolt when the standard of living for the American worker is so extraordinarily good?

Besides, in this day and age, workers have unions and/or a wide-open job market with lots of choices, along with the flexibility to search out jobs anywhere in the country. If work conditions are bad, unions strike. If a non-union worker doesn't like his/her job, they can easily find another. There really isn't any reason to revolt. Your job and work environment is primarily self-determined.

No, that is akin to communism, and it's been proven that communism doesn't work. If it did, why did the Soviet Union fall, and why are people starving in North Korea? Besides, it's impossible to get Americans out to vote, much less get us all organized to revolt.
