Organized entertainment or pleasure obtained from being productive. When I was younger fun was viewed as being something to do, such as a fishing trip or a vacation that was very fun or I like that girl because she knows how to have fun. Now that I am older I tend to not use the word "fun" as a label. Human behavior isn't always funny or very much fun. So the way I see it is that we should allow time for the daily expression of laughter and or pleasure. Then again, each and every person may view the same content with a different expression. I think people have to be taught how to enjoy life even when things are not going well. This can be done by having the proper perspective and the correct outlet for aggression if it exists. I tend to line up three or four things I can do on my days off and then I adjust my goals to the weather and various moods I may be in. I never force myself to do things unless they have to be done. I don't think fun is something we can force or implement on comand. What we can control is the climate for pleasure which most of the time is free flowing.
