I don't know about the most common, but Morel Mushrooms are the tastiest. Reshiki are used popularly in Asia as medicinal mushroom. Oyster mushrooms are rather tasty in a salad. Shaggy Maine Mushrooms are extremely rare yet tasty, as they spoil soon after being picked.
Ps. Mold and Fungi are differently families.

Mushrooms. Whether the large kinds or the smaller kinds. They can be put in salads, used on pizzas, eaten raw, used as appetizers, they can be stuffed, baked into breads and even grilled!

Closed-cup white mushrooms seem to be the commonest in the UK, don't know about everywhere else. People cut them up and eat them raw in salad, fry them to have with a fried breakfast, or cut them up and put them in curries, chinese, pasta sauce...
