just because it's a simple question... doesn't mean it's a good question... a fair question... or even a question that is respectful of others...
but both sides attack a lot... and much of it isn't justified...

In fairness to some of the respondents, a lot of what you might call "simple questions" have not-so-subtly-veiled political agendas, which I feel is inappropriate on such a supposedly impartial forum. I agree with you, however, that many of the respondents get carried away, and end up lowering themselves to the level of the askers by answering with idiotic personal attacks. In fact, to a point, I think that may be the aim of a lot of the people asking such questions in the first place: the people who attack them make fools out of themselves, indirectly lending credence to their own point.

Simple questions rely on simple answers, they don't give you a chance to do some thinking. Those who attack the asker are just trying to stir up more answers for you and are disappointed they didn't think of the question.
