That depends on if you believe in eternity and hell. The Bible speaks of a time when men will seek death but not find it.
(Revelation 9:6) So I think hoping for death but not finding it is probably worse. Hope that helps!

In the Bhagavad Gita As It Is we find it said that dishonor can be worse than death.
"People will always speak of your infamy, and for a respectable person, dishonor is worse than death."
Bhagavad Gita As It Is 2.34
So a lot of things could be worse than death if you really into it.
But, there is no excuse for hurting those who are innocent.

Dieing and not knowing that Jesus Christ has offered the gift of eternal life. Receiving Christ means that you accept God's forgiveness and his everlasting love. If you repent (turn away from sin) and put your trust and faith in him who is eternal an lives forevermore. Than you shall be saved.
