San Antonio is my favorite city. Besides being very cultural and historical, it's a beautiful city, very friendly, clean and so much variety of things to do. It's in the middle of everything. It's like living in the Bull's eye.
Austin (great weekend place) and the Texas Hill Country all right there ( grab a tube and a 6 pak. Tie it to your tube and float down the freezing rivers on a hot August day....who needs therapy?).
The Gulf Of Mexico is 2 1/2 hrs. away. Beaches, bay and off shore fishing, etc..
In other words, you will never get bored in SA. What ever you like to do is right there or close by. It is a relaxing city and the stress levels are down. I hear sales are up there. Growing growing.
Oh yeah, GO SPURS GO! If I had to live in a city I would pick San Antonio.

Dallas, No way! Too citified, no warmth, just crazy and fast paced. You'd have the same quality of life as an ant in an ant farm there. Too far away from everything...no escape. You go to Oklahoma for the weekend. 8 hours from the coast.

Houston, dirty, rainy, hard to evacuate from hurricanes, nothing to do, not many braggers from Houston.

El Paso? But, we'd never see you again! LOL just kidding.
