Those would be the only two under consideration. Thanks!

Fort Worth

I currently live 20 minutes south of Ft Worth, and I love it. It does get very hot during the summer, but the fall, winter and spring are all very mild. There are plenty of things to do in the area-we have professional football, baseball, hockey and basketball teams, as well as various minor league teams. Both Dallas and Fort worth have excellent zoos, museums, dining, and other entertainment. I have been to houston several times for both business and pleasure and there are some good parts of life down there too, but the humidity kills me. Houston has pretty bad traffic and there are just too many people there. One plus with houston is that the beach isnt too far away. Fort Worth has a small town feel to it, while Houston is definately more city.

Fort Worth

To answer quickly, I would pick the DFW area, although maybe not Fort Worth in general. I have lived in south Dallas for five years and Houston for 8.

Depends on what your criteria are, but Houston's weather is more humid but not as hot. Winters are very mild in Houston.

I have found jobs in Houston easy to obtain compared to other places and the market here seems to never slow as a whole.

There are some great restaurants in Houston, but I think Dallas has better eating in general and certainly more things to do. I think Houston just doesn't have enough good things to do besides eat.

Fort Worth.

You have to talk D/FW vs Houston when making this comparrision becuase the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex is really one area. however within that area Dallas and FortWorth are uniquely different from one another.

D/FW is a larger metroplex than Houston, but it doesn't feel larger becuase of the different character of the two cities of dallas and fortworth.

D/FW population July2004 - 5.8 Million
Houston metro area July 2004 - 5.1 Million

FortWorth (and Dallas) both feel like smaller towns than Houston, Fort Worth even more so. Houston just feels like endless city.

The weather is horrid in Houston in the summers, very humid and hot. DFW gets very hot, but not the humidity maknig it much easier to deal with. Houston has to deal with tropical storms and hurricanes and flooding and occasional Tornado, DFW has occasional tornados, gets snow once every 2-3 years, an ice storm once every 3 years or so.

Both metro areas have similar ammenities, however I find the DFW ones are better. AstroWorld in houston was not a good amusement park, so bad in fact they closed it down. DFW has Six Flags over Texas, a great Park. Houston has a zoo, but Fort Worths is way better. DFW has many more water parks than houston. Both cities have pro sports teams, football/baseball/basketball, but DFW wins with also a pro hockey team. Both cities have Theater and Symphonies. DFW has cool dinner theaters, and I have never seen one in Houston.

DFW is cleaner, more rolling, more well planned (there is NO zoning in Houston).

I would live in DFW again, I would NOT live in Houston again

Lived in Houston all my life, visited Dallas. Definitely Fort Worth is better weather. Houston is going down-hill fast. Unless your rich, Houston is a punishment.

I'm from Houston, but I lived in Ft. Worth for 4 years. At first I didn't like it because it's small compared to Houston, but I got used it. I would recomend it to live if you have family because it's so much calmer than the big city life of Houston. There's less traffic, not too much crime, and it's peaceful in the majority of the areas. Then again Houston has very nice suburbs, I ocasionally go back to Ft. Worth to visit family but I wouldn't move back because I love living in Houston.

Houston is a lot cheaper as far as cost per square foot. The TX Medical Center is well known for its hospitals and doctors if anyone in your family has medical problems. Lots of cultural events and good places to eat.

D/FW has smaller cities within the metroplex that make it feel less "concrete jungle". The communities are well-planned especially to the north. There are tons of places to shop. It takes a while drive from one side of Dallas to Ft. Worth. Love the hills in Ft. Worth!

Funny you asked that. I lived in Houston for 11yrs and I have family that lives in Ft Worth, so I visited very often. I think Houston is for those who like a fast pace life. And Ft Worth is more laid back, not country like Nacogdoches, but just a little slower, not as much traffic..But Houston has sooooo many different cultures in one city. I love them both!!!! Good Luck with your decision.
