On the Prisoner from Azkaban why does harry poter see a deer by the lake?

This is the part when he thinks that he saw his father but in reality it was himself. Why does the white figure is shaped like a deer, and not like a human?

The paternus represents the father and Harry's father is represented by a stag (a stag is the name for a male deer, you probably know that but I'd like to be clear).

It is a little unclear in the film, have you read the books? The extra details in the original are easier to follow, (especially if you are a younger fan!).

The white figure is a patronus - it's a charm/spell to protect him and Sirius Black from the Dementors that are attacking them. Everyone's Patronus takes the form of an animal when it's cast, and Harry's takes the form of a deer (actually, it's a stag). That happens to be the same form that his father took when he changed into an animal.

In Harry Potter, it depends on who the person is when their patronus is formed so I guess it is possible that it could be formed into a human but in harry's case it isn't.I feel like a dork now.lol
