Last night I ate Doritos with a whole can of bean dip and half a box of Hot Tamles for dinner. I also crave chocolate like mad! I normally eat very healthy foods. I crave junk when it is this time of the month. So strange to me...

This isn't a vitamin deficiency or those of you who are wondering. It is a brain deficiency. For some reason that is not known our serotonin levels drop around a week before our periods.. we crave sweets and carbs as a way to bring those levels back up. For years chocolate had been a "happy medicine". I give it to my five year old when he is being a grump. It works! You should only eat it in moderation. Just one or two little cubes from a hershy bar should do the trick. Otherwise your blood sugar will sky rocket then drop, leaving you tired and out of energy. Eat 6 small meals a day.. dont forget the complex carbs for your serotonin levels, drink eight glasses of water a day to help reduse bloating and cramps and try to exersice 3 or 4 times per week this will help with cramps and your serotonin levels as well. Get 8 hours of sleep per day!
