I don't have a nano, but with a video, and when it's plugged ito the computer, it's different. If on the screen of the iPod, it says "Do not disconnect", do not disconnect until you go on your computer, go to iTunes, and eject the iPod. Then you can unplug it. But if you have it connected to something else, like an iHome or something, it doesn't matter.

if u r using ur pc to charge the ipod, its better to eject the ipod using the itunes window or by clicking the safely remove hardware icon on ur desktop, and then selecting the ipod and then remove it, and if ur charging it using an external charger, then it does not matter at all. Happy listening.

It wont hurt it but you could lose data... it better to eject it every time.. to save from having to go back and put lost music back on the ipod,, Which to your advantage is easy too
