I've heard that prescription meds don't work. They only lower the amount of acid in your stomach, which is not good because you need acid for digestion. The REAL cause (some of the time) of acid reflux is not having enough acid in your stomach. So that's why you have pain and indigestion after a big meal. Try taking a teaspoon or two of vinegar (apple cidar is good for you overall) every morning. I've heard that will prevent it and cure it.

Try TUMS or something similar, and if that doesn't work try something like Pepcid AC or see a doctor. If you have constant problems with acid reflux, you should see a doctor.

One thing to avoid is drinking or eating right before bed, as the contents of your stomach can go back up your esophagus and take stomach acid with it. Avoid spicy foods, sodas and alcohol.

You must eat smaller meals and don't lay down or recline after eating. Don't drink carbonated drinks, go very easy on any alcohol (best if you avoid it). Forget spicy and over seasoned foods and anything that creates gas. Over the counter stuff can cause more harm than good. I'd go to a health foods store and see what they have in digestive enzymes (usually containing papaya). You can eat papaya or drink the juice, eat fresh mint or drink mint tea too.

I have the same problem on occasion. The home remedy that I feel confidant in recommending is the old tried and true baking soda and water mix and swallow. Just get a box of arm and hammer baking soda and it will provide the necessary formula for quick relief.........also there are any number of o.t.c. remedies such as tagament, etc that work miracles for us sufferers........good luck.

I've found Pepsid Complete works best. Yeah, it tastes like POO but it does the job.
If it's really bad, double or triple the average doses. It's safe. My doctor totally recommends it.

Watch the spicy foods and the sodas! Really, sodas kill me. Instand Acid reflux.
Also cut back on refined sugar products, candy and cakes and stuff like that. Fried foods are nasty culprit as well, so cut back or eliminate those.
Fresh fruits, but not too many as the pure sugars can be mean...fresh veggies, but watch the bell peppers as they still contain capcasum like any other pepper.
I've learned to know my triggers and try my best to simply avoid them.
PEANUT BUTTER....I just don't eat it anymore...

If you smoke, QUIT...smoking can really erode your esophogus as well and add the problem.

You are always safer to go to your doctor for a proper diagnosis and medication, and while there ask about home remedies. A doctor can verify there is not a secondary condition such as ulcers that are part of your problem. Here's 2 home remedy sites I found for you on google.com so you can read that and see if anything helps.
