Is Tylenal or Ibefrofin safe for me and the baby?

Tylenol, regular strength is the safest. Even then you should not take it often, only when direly necessary.

Some physicians will allow you to take Ibuprofen/Advil until the 28th week of pregnancy. (The main reason it is not allowed after that is because it thins the blood, and clotting is necessary to keep from hemmoraging during and after labor.)

Regardless, you need to ask your physician. Every pregnancy is different and there could be a valid reason why you aren't allowed to take the above medications.

Good luck! I understand where you're coming from. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I get horrible migraines and back pain (from a previous back injury). Unfortunately, I am allergic to Tylenol, and I wasn't informed that I could take Advil until the 28th week.

I know a ton of people have posted that you can take Tylenol already, but I wanted to add that I had the same problem in my first trimester, and it is coming back in the last few weeks of my pregnancy. Everyone else had morning sickness, but I had migraines. My iron levels and everything checked out, so it was just a reaction from the estrogen (so my dr told me). I took Tylenol for awhile, but after awhile, my body became resistant to it, so my dr prescribed Darvocet, and that really helped. Your dr can give you some types of painkillers if Tylenol just isnt' doing the job. (I really hated taking it, though! I only did when they got really bad.) Just make sure you don't take anything with ibuprofen or aspirin in it because it can cause uterine bleeding.

It's best to try to avoid headaches in the first place. Make sure you are drinking enough water. You will get dehydrated more easily and that can lead to headaches. Your eyesight will weaken during pregnancy, so maybe you need more light when you read. Try warm baths and neck massages. Even so, you may get headaches. If you can't stick them out, then acetometophine is the only thing you can take for them. That's Tylenol, not Ibuprofen, but you should check with your doctor beforehand.

I know how you feel, I get headaches a whole lot now (I'm 4 months pregnant)and some of them are migraines which are a killer. :( To my knowledge, Tylenol is the only thing safe for you to take during pregnancy. Ibuprofen and Asprin are definatly unsafe. Make sure you call and ask your doctor.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

I have been pregnant twice and the only thing I could take was extra strength tylenol. But you still need to talk to your doctor first because maybe they can give you some tips on how to relieve the pain without the medicines. Always ask your doctor before you take any medicine because you never know how it can affect your baby.

Oh girl... I totally sympathize. I suffered the same

I took NOTHING

and would wake up crying in the middle of the night and cry in the middle of the day...

I was 4 months and finally allowed myself to take some Tylenol.

Hi. Congratulations.
I don't think you can take Ibubrofen. but I think tylenol is ok. but consult your doctor, too.
Taking a shower, breathing in oxygen, comfortable clothes and deap breaths may help you too.
Good luck
