Male or Female? Makes no difference? Personally, I like flirting with the guys in line at grocery stores, banks etc. We both know nothing,s going to come of it and it is fun. Snow on the roof and all that.

I've found a better balance of self, I am more peaceful in my assessment of my life. Didn't used to be that way.

Before it used to be competition with my gender about guys, and beauty. It's still important, but I see people better now and can understand why they made the choices they have made.

I'm not so extremely idealistic now. I still have ideals, but they are no longer so black/white, up/down, hot/cold.

I've gotten tired of jumping the fence and spend more time sitting on it.

I'm so delighted in being able to send kids home from my house instead of trying to get them to go to bed, or do their homework, or eat their dinner, or clean-up their room, or turn down the TV, radio, stereo, or telling them to get off the phone, or telling them to do their chores, or . . . . you get the idea.

Knowing even if I am under-valued by my employer, I still know more than most of my co-workers, that I can work smarter.

Cheaper transportation rates on buses and trains. (Not so on planes or in taxis.)

Kids are out of the house (for now anyway) and I can have a peaceful quiet evening without video-games and arguments over the time spent on a computer.

Volunteering at the hospital or library or after-school care.

The benefit of being old is.... we can look ahead AND look at past experiences which is probably the wisdom that older people are suppose to have. Health issues can be a bust... but since none of us have a choice (even you)...might as well enjoy the age. I was always dumb founded when my aunt would say..... "Don't ever get old"! I was not aware I had a choice. I think the real shame of being old is not sharing your experiences with the younger generations

I think maturity brings the realization that life is too short to screw around. I think this is why most of the senior citizens I know are always pissed off about everything and everyone. You just get sick of B.S. and by the time you realize it, you have spent most of your life dealing with other people's B.S. (and I don't mean Bachelor's of Science, kids), and it makes YOU an angry, grumpy older person.

Hehe.

That you are almost in the end of your life and don't have to worry about changing your clothing to fit the style fads, or not having to worry where you need to go tomorrow but six feet under.
