I am enrolled in an accredited though a non-ivy league school. While it is a rewarding experience, I'm not sure I see a payoff. Any recent "B" school MBA grads who can speak to this?

Like anything--it is not the degree that makes the person but the person that makes the person. The MBA is nothing more than your initiative to learn more about business, and that is what companies see when they see that on your resume. But that does not replace your continued initiative to succeed in the business world. In other words, you still won't get the next position just having the business degree on your resume, but you also need to show the employer you have the initiative and everything else to be the best person for the next position with follow-ups, presentation, etc. Nowadays if you have not reached your point of success, it is all about continued learning, on the job or in the classroom, because that is what everyone else is doing to succeed.

As you mentioned, the experience is rewarding. The purpose of education in any discipline is to culture your mind to a particular method of thinking toward achieving a defined goal. How you wish to use the skills you have acquired to achieve the benefits which you desire is entirely your own choice.

It's still worthwhile, but it's not a guaranteed path to riches. Never has been. Still, I do think it will open some doors.

Of course there is a payoff - you are almost done and will not have to hang your head when people under you are hired who have it! duh! Hang in there young man.
