Actually 'United States' makes more sense in a fascist country because all are under control. Get it?

If we truly were evolving into a Fascist Empire not one of us would be writing any of this.

The opinioin of the individual is the opinion of the state in fascism.

Take a look at Mussolini's article "What is Fascism?" and you will truly see that we are as far from that as you can possibly be.

Fascists don't give amnest to illegal immigrants.

Fascists don't allow you to have open access to the internet.

Fascists don't allow liberal college professors to say whatever they want.

Fascists don't allow the news media to criticize the government...in fact Fascists would control of the media...movie, television, radio, newspaper, and internet and all you would see is government propaganda.

Please instead of throwing around catch phrases like George W. Bush is a Nazi or Fascist do some research and find out what the word actually means.

I suppose you can be happy spouting off that stuff though because "ignorance is bliss." but remember ignorance can be changed, stupid lasts forever.

have a nice day.

Please help me understand why you think we are becoming fascist. Doesn't that imply a state run government? As far as I know that is no where near happening. Make me change my mind. I'm serious here, if I'm missing out on the huge state run bonfires with book burnings of anything anti-Republican, or the pamphlets that are being distributed to the children through the public schools, or the secret state police forcing people to believe in their cause. Seriously, make me understand. If we lived in a fascist state, wouldn't it stop things like Yahoo! Answers, or any other place where free thinking and criticism is encouraged? Or are they watching us and taking notes, waiting for the right time to strike? How many people who hate Bush do you know that have been arrested for their beliefs? Maybe if you give me some examples I would understand. I'm willing to support anyone against a fascist state in America, but I need to know there is one before I do.

This question actually requires three responses: can the ideology of our current government be characterized as fascistic, does the State currently control an Empire, and then, if yes to those two, should the name of the country be changed.

fascism, according to Webster, is, "a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition."

We can certainly say that there is a very strong nationalistic current in this country as led by the GOP, so the current govt. does exalt nation. As many non-white Americans would say, race in this country is certainly exhaulted, although not usually explicitly; however, as a very large percentage of blacks are poor, uneducated, incarcerated for extraordinarily long periods for minor crimes, often not allowed to vote thereafter, and under-represented in government and leadership roles in private companies, that being white in this country is exalted would come as no surprise. That current government has a penchant for centralizing more authority in the executive (President Bush) cannot be denied. Furthermore, neither can the increasing social regimentation fomented by the religious right of the GOP, particularly its vilification of gays, other alternative life-styles, and anything that doesn't fit into its narrow notion of 'family-values'. Since the Neo-Cons (Rumsfeld, Cheney, etc.) inherited the neo-liberal economic schemes of Reagan, Bush 1, and Clinton (NAFTA), the dogma of privatization and globalization is only further thrust upon the world by their more obvious militarism. But finally, while it would difficult to characterize the control of Bush by any stretch as dictatorial, at least with regard to the people of the United States proper, its control, on the other hand, of other parts of the world and other peoples and individuals (Iraq, Guantanamo) is nothing short of dictatorial and authoritarian.

Regarding the issue of empire, what other nation of the world holds military bases all across the globe, even within the boundaries of states regarded as enemies? Moreover, if those countries decided that they did not want American bases any longer, how easy do you think it would be for them to force out the U.S. military?

Lastly, although I do not believe that we have completed a transformation to a fascist state within our boundaries, in this global age, we need not stretch our minds too much to realize that as an Empire, we do command and coerce much of the world with autocratic and fascistic intent.

Keep the old name. This way people can remember what can happen when rightist extremists gain the upper hand. Many people don't know that fascist governments are extremely right wing and conservative and adhere to an extremely conservative manifesto.Communism, as practiced in the U.S.S.R is also fascist but with a different hierarchical form for advancement.

There has bee some serious discussion about calling us a "Halliburton subsidary" but this is only after they foreclose on the national debt. I've heard they've already designed the new flag.. instead of 50 stars there will be 50 little H's.

It doesn't look too bad but, I'm not too sure I'll still be living here, I've heard most of Canada is still free.

Were you born stupid, or did you learn how to be stupid?

We are neither evolving into a fascist empire, nor are we going down that path.

You don't have to suffer the faith of living in a "fascist" state like the rest of us - you can jump on a plane to a wonderful bastion of freedom such as Italy, Spain, France, and Germany.
