The key to playing this way is to have good bow technique.Even Jimmy Page was rather sloppy at times.Make good contact with the strings your playing. You may try tuning your guitar differently to create more effects.(example,to your entire guitar to a G chord: DGDGBD.)Use long flowing strokes for legato notes and you can sort of jump the strings with the bow to create staccato notes.jimmy Page as used a lot of effect on his guitar when he plays that way.Usually delay, reverb, and some sort of phase or flange.

I never tried it before because I don't own a violin bow. But guitarists like Jimmy Page and Paul Gilbert did this for Live stage theatrics during concerts. I saw them both play once on TV and the guitar sound was kind of wierd.

Jimmy Page of Led Zepplin played solos in hundreds of their concerts using a violin bow. It produces a very interesting sound, combined with a small synthesizer unit placed near the guitar.

I've tried it a few times using my wifes violin bow, but it really pisses her off! It has a soft deep sort of tone, sounds cool with the right FX. Jimmy page of Led Zeppelin used a bow in "Dazed and confused"

No, but I think it would likely sound terrible, because guitar strings are wound and have tiny ridges on them, and as far as I know violins don't

you can get some pretty funky squealy noises when you do it, but it will never sound really smooth because the grain of the bowstrings runs against the grain of the coils around the guitar strings. but if you play aroind with it then it sounds freaky and cool. especially at high volumes

I think Jimi Hendrix may have because he experimented with many different styles of playing the guitar.
