At 22 I hate having skin like a 14 year old. Does anyone know how to get rid of bad skin? I've been through all the oxy, clearasil, tea tree oil products but if anything my skin gets worse rather than better. What can I do? Thanks :0)

I work as a beauty therapist, and I has bad skin as a teenager too so I know how awful it is and how it knocks your sekf confidence.

You mention that your skin becomes worse. Often I notice with my clients that the skin will become worse before it clears. THis is often because the skin will need purifying in the deeper cells. My advice when it comes to this, is to give your products time to work. Ideally it would take approx 3 - 6 months for them to start working effectively.
Obviously, it will take a lot more than just putting some products onto your skin. In addition to a good homecare routine, for best results you should try drink at least 2 litres of water a day ( I know its REALLY difficult!) and also monitor your diet, as it may be something you are eating that triggers off your skin.
Its difficult to assess without seeing it, so maybe it would be good for you to see a specialist and get a professional opinion. It could possibly also be hormone related, so it may be a good idea to get testing done to check that your hormones are in balance.

Roaccutane is a very effective drug used to exfoliate the skin. My brother took it, and it does make your skin sensitive, and also your hair would become weak and your lips very dry and so on. The only problem with a treatment like this is that you will need a pescription from a dermatologist. As it is quite harsh, unless you cant clear it otherwise and it becomes your last resort, I wouldn`t reccomend it.

Good luck, I hope this will help.

simple answer is.. dont wash your face! sounds disgusting i know but here me out.
when in shower or just washin your face splash your face with a very generous helping of hot water. no soap no nothing,

this is what happens

eventually your face will balance it's self out, it will have the right amount of oils etc. my friend said if you dont use soap your face will act as its own cleanser it wont be able to fight bacteria if you constantly wash it off then your face never knows how to fight it. (remember not all bacteria is bad). now being the worry wort i am i consulted my mother who i have never seen one blemish on her face and she said all she uses is hot water (then cold to firm, if older), plus to strenghten my point my boss is 60, and she looks about 40 no lie and when i asked her she said she had never used soap and only ever used water. now i though about how oily my face is and figured id used every product under the sun, so i stopped using soap and surpirse surprise i have no spots, now im not saying you will never have another spot again, but your face will not look like you just started secondary school thats for sure , and i hear you say what about make up removal, i use superdrugs tea tree face wipes( fantastic!!!) its the best stuff and the essential oil is great for reducing the swelling of big spots (squeeze the spot, gross i know, and then put some of the oil(undiluted) on a bit of cotton wool and leave it there for about an hour , and you cant belive the difference, its not gone but its a dam site easier to cover with make up. i now you dont like tea tree but you might find it more benifical if you have stopped using other products and the superdrug is really cheap and i think effective and my skin was awful i never had acne but it was so greasy, let me now if it works give it time , trust me.

You might want to check your diet. Fatty and processed foods are the worst culprits. Alcohol is another one, so avoid it.

Also, use an oil-free moisturiser especially designed for oily or problem skins.

Lastly, drink lots and lots of water to get rid of toxins which cause spots.

Good Luck!

N.B. Whatever you do, do not use Accutane as someone mentioned. It was prescribed to me as a teenager, it made my hair fall out and it is now much finer. It also affected my eyesight.

depends what kinds of spots you have. If you have acne (deeo, red spots that are inflamed) then you cant use any substances - your body is producing it. If its through sweat/grease (white head spots) then just wash 'gently' twice a day, and DONT touch your skin. I've found with acne to, again, leave my skin alone, and dont rub/abraise it with scratching etc. Just ask, i used to go to docs all the time, but they've all gone now :D :D

If you have an Aloe Vear plant in your home, use the gel from the middle of a small piece of leaf, otherwise, get a tube of gel (usually 99% aloe vera) from a health food store or other outlet. If Aloe Vera doesn't clear them, nothing will.

If you are washing your face too much it will get dry and as a consequence you will produce more oil on your skin which will make you prone to spots. Be gentle with it.

have you changed your diet recently? i just changed to weight watchers which is loads of water, fruit, veg etc. (as well as loads of food i do like!) but cos of the "detox" Ive broken out, the only thing i suggest is keep drinking loads of water, and i dint use soap, its too dry! i never got spots when i was a teenager either, so it is tough to get them when your in your 20s' I'm 23 and say:
plenty of water, plenty of light and don't stress... stress is BAD for your skin!!! :)

dont use anything with oil in. try sudocrem, its cheap, and this cream is supurb. i wouldnt waste my money on any expensive rubbish, the perfume and chemicals they put in them often makes the problem worse. dont apply this cream all over your face just the affected areas. brilliant for any rashes, anthing really, i swear by it. a pot of this will last you years !
