Sometimes you have to wonder if there is any good reasons..Alot of your question depends on where you live, your health and I guess your desire to live..For me its just being able to do the things that make me happy. Look around you, look at all the friends you have . try to think of the things that you have done that has made you or someone else happy, weather it be friend , children or yourself, put it all together andtheres your answeer..Life is only as good as you make it, sometimes GOOD and sometimes BAD but living is better than not living because not living is BLANK or NOTHING , and me being alive I was just able to ans your question... LOL ROB still loving life at 65..

This question bothered me for a long time and had the opportunity to reflect on many occasions. Most of the time I would agree that it “beats the hell out of being dead” unfortunately to some people it does not. That would qualify that at least partially agree with broxolm on that account.
To generalize I would say that if you are thinking that "being alive is that it beats the hell out of being dead " you are in a state which can be defined as "the best thing about being alive" the rest that makes being alive great is just a background.

My favorite thing about being alive is that it beats the hell out of being dead all the time.

I think it's about being able to enjoy the things we experience, both the good and bad, experiencing love, finding love (and sometimes losing it), and all the things that makes living worthwhile!!

to find out about who you really are, what you're doing here and who is GOD. By the way, all these questions have an answer in a book called "The Bhagavad Gita as It is"..very interesting...
