What on earth are you talking about? Your 401 k is for your retirement, not for spending on a cool thing. If you tke your 401 k let it keep working for you ( lets assume you get another job and are able to continue contributing) by the time you retire you will have millions of dollars.

You would have to be a huge moron to let your boyfriend get a single penny of it. Same goes for you, get your hands off that money. It will make you a very very happy person some day, don't blow it.

If you recieved a check for your 401 k, go and invest it. You most likely never missed the money in the first place, let it continue to work for you.

As far as just spending a little of it, hahaa we all know that after you spend a little here, a little there, in a few months it will all every last penny be gone.

First of all, 401 k funds were meant to allow you to accumulate money without taxes for your retirement. You are really penalizing yourself by withdrawing funds from it prior to your lifetime retirement.
Secondly, although it's none of my business, those are your funds earned because of your work. Now, I don't know your boyfriend, but, as a generality, girls should be very, very careful about making commitments, or hanging around, with guys going through their money as their given prerogative and stiffing the girl in the process. Doesn't bode well for a long term relationship.

Sounds like your money is his money and his money is his. If you cant spend your OWN money then you needs to pack up and leave him cause he will spend all of it and you will have nothing to buy yourself something with. He aint nuttin but a gold digger.

first of all you are supposed to re-invest the money or you will be penalized by the irs and have to pay taxes on it. it is for your future not the now.
