I have found sometimes the modem needs to be restarted to update the software it runs on, the same as windows restarts when it updates, as well as other software. I know sometimes when my phone is not working right, it has been on too long continuously and i turn it off and on a few times so it can download and install software updates. Try doing that with your DSL modem.

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean that the modem goes out of sync? If so, contact the DSL company and have them test the line.

According to my hubby-- who works at AT & T and puts in DSL-- there is a sporadic error going on in your phone line. Its all at the phone company's end, too many variables to list here, call the your phone company.
