KEEP IN TOUCH! It works, believe it or not. Don't forget birthdays and special dates, and always call just to say hi.

My best friend moved away about a year ago now. We have the same relationship that you discribe, he was like a brother to me and me to him. We still talk often by e-mail, through myspace, and also on the phone. He doesn't live anywhere near me (about 6 states away now) but we still manage to stay in touch. I think that you and your friend (who is like a sister) will be able to stay in touch just as well as we have. Best of all sometime next year I am going to go and actually see him and spend some time with him and his girlfriend. So see you can do that too!

I am sure this is very difficult for you, I feel your pain!
I recently moved away from Mississippi to Louisiana and had to leave my best friend also. It's hard but thank God for email and phones! I drive home about twice a month (5 hrs away) to see my family and friends and it's worked out. Yall can always plan weekend getaways that's halfway in between your distances. It will get easier, I promise. My advice to you is to just not lose contact with her. Always stay in touch because it is easy to "get busy" and go a while without communicating. Good luck to you my dear, it'll be alright. Keep your head up!

You write that you only e-mail your best friend.
Can you also talk on the phone and/or visit?
I think e-mail is great, but phone calls and visiting, even if you are unable to manage to do it as often as you would like, is necessary too. It's just more personal and keeps your relationship on a close, intimate basis.
Also, try to make new friends. I don't say they will replace your best friend, but I think it may help.
Good luck!

That must be really tough on you. Sorry to hear that . Does she live close enough where you can visit every weekend ? Maybe your parents would let you spend a week or two every summer

try sending her gifts. or using a camera and mic to chat and see her live every so often. Also write letters instead of sending email all the time. and send photos.
