well, it really depends on how depressed you are. if it's really bad, then you should probably see a therapist. if not, music can really help (just avoid the depressing stuff. that only makes it worse). another thing that can really help is writing in a journal. it gets all of your feelings out and can help you understand what is making you feel depressed. other things that help are eating right and excercise (even if you just go on a 20 min. walk). it makes you feel good about yourself and your body. even if that's not the issue, it definitely helps.

Get involved in activities that keep your mind busy. Try and make new friends. Change up your day to day routine to get out of that rut. Try new things Biking, jogging, Go to a community center gym ect. A busy mind doesn't have time to be depressed.

Today's scientist believe it has alot to with people's diets, certain foods promote certain feelings, I would search the net for that and see what you come up with. A good friend in my opinion would also help, someone you can tell stuff to that can keep a secret. It gets it off your chest or shoulders and it free's your mind of it. I hope I helped.

by analyzing why you are depressed. what situations are limiting or causing you unhappiness right now? depression is a mind's way of telling you that something in your life needs to be changed.
once you found out what needs to be changed - do it! It's amazing what action can do.

Avoid sitting around in the dark while your awake or places were light is too dim.
Bright lights or even leaving the overhead light on will help.
